Leather cleaning
The starting point for every restoration. On dirty leather no colour or protector will hold.
More about this serviceFrom Rumia we mainly get family cars with light upholstery — almost always with the same problem: denim dye transfer and marks on the rear seat.
Light leather looks great for the first two years and dreadful in the third if nobody has protected it. Dye from clothing transfers to the surface and gets into the coating, and on the rear seat there are marks from shoes and child seats as well.
We remove it from the coating and then protect the surface with a protector. Without that second step it comes back within a few months and looks like a failed restoration, although the problem lies in everyday use.
Imprints from a child seat base and marks from shoes are usually dents and scuffs, not damage — they can be evened out without replacing the cover.
At collection we tell you what to clean light leather with and what to avoid. All-purpose interior cleaners do the most harm here.
Each of these services has its own page — with a description, the course of work and photos.

More about this serviceProducts that protect against UV, water and denim dye transfer — the most common cause of stains on light-coloured seats.
More about this serviceA lighter option for leather that isn't damaged, just tired: cleaning, conditioning and protection without re-colouring.
More about this serviceThe most common job: a worn driver's seat bolster and a sagging cushion. Cleaning, filling, re-colouring and protecting the whole surface so the colour matches.
More about this serviceBlue marks on light leather are dye from jeans that transfers onto the leather through friction. At first it sits on the surface and comes off with a good clean. If over the years it has worked its way into the pores and the cracks in the finish, it has to be cleaned more deeply and the colour renewed in places.
In family cars the rear bench has its own marks: child seats pressed into the cushion, shoe marks on the backs of the front seats, food stains. Most of this is a matter of cleaning and refreshing the colour, not repair.
Finally we protect the light leather with an impregnating agent that makes it harder for dye to penetrate. It won't stop it forever, but it means ordinary cleaning every now and then is enough.

Send a photo of the whole thing and a close-up of the damage, or just give us a call. From that we tell you whether it can be saved.
We give you the scope of work and the price. If restoration isn't worth it, we'll say so plainly — it happens, and it's better to hear it before than after.
Cleaning, damage repair, re-colouring, protection. On larger jobs we send you progress photos.
We tell you what to care for the leather with and what damages it fastest. That usually decides whether the result lasts for years.
The quickest way is this: a photo of the whole item, a close-up of the damage and a note on what the item or part is. On that basis we'll tell you whether it can be saved and what it will cost.
