Leather refresh

A lighter option for leather that isn't damaged, just tired: cleaning, conditioning and protection without re-colouring.

An option for leather that isn't damaged — just tired. No holes, no cracks, no worn-off coating. Simply grubby, unevenly dull and a little stiff to the touch.

This is a service we suggest more often than customers expect. Plenty of people come in for a full restoration, and after inspection it turns out that re-colouring is unnecessary and cleaning with conditioning is enough. The difference in price is considerable, so we always mention it.

What it covers

  • Deep cleaning, including seams and perforation.
  • Conditioning and moisturising — bringing back softness.
  • Evening out the gloss level if the touch points have turned shiny.
  • Protecting the surface.

When it's enough and when it isn't

It's enough if the leather looks clearly better after a wipe with a damp cloth, and no lighter base shows through on the worn areas. It isn't enough if the coating has worn down to bare leather or the colour has drifted so far that you can see the difference from two metres away — then re-colouring is needed.

With leather in good condition, a refresh once a year is worthwhile. It puts off a full restoration by years.

Leather treatments — other services

Leather cleaning

The starting point for every restoration. On dirty leather no colour or protector will hold.

Leather softening

Leather exposed to the sun goes stiff — fastest of all in a car. Softening brings back its suppleness before it starts to crack.

Painting and dyeing

Painting and dyeing

Colours matched to the type of leather: one kind for pigmented car upholstery, another for aniline and semi-aniline furniture leather.

Impregnation and protection

Products that protect against UV, water and denim dye transfer — the most common cause of stains on light-coloured seats.

Leather de-glossing

With long use, leather turns shiny where it is touched. De-glossing brings back its factory matt look.
