Frequently asked questions
If something's missing here, give us a call — we'll answer right away. We've gathered the questions we hear most often: about the cost and time of restoration, about hard and over-glossy leather, about holes, dye transfer from jeans and ventilated seats. Prefer to write? The form on the quote page takes ordinary questions too, no photos needed.
Price and quotes6
How much does restoration cost?
There is no single price, because there is no single kind of damage. A worn driver's seat bolster is different work from a set of seats after an insurance claim or a corner sofa with sagging seats.
The quickest way: send a photo of the whole thing and a close-up of the damage. From that we'll give you a specific price, not a from–to range.
Send photos for a quoteWhat photos should I send for a quote?
Three are enough: the whole item or part from 2–3 metres away, the damage close up — from the side, not straight from above, because then the depth shows — and one photo in daylight so the true colour is visible. A flash distorts colour, so it's better not to use it.
For a car, add the make, model and year. An example of a good enquiry: “BMW E90 2008, driver's seat, worn seat bolster and a crack at the fold, beige leather” plus three photos. We answer an enquiry like that with a specific price.
Send photos for a quoteIs there a charge for a quote?
No. A quote from photos and a remote video inspection are free and put you under no obligation.
Send photos for a quoteCan the quoted price change?
The quote is binding for the scope visible in the photos or during the inspection. It can only change if, once the part is taken apart, the damage turns out to go deeper — into the foam or the frame, for example — which couldn't be seen from outside. In that case we let you know before carrying on, not at collection.
Send photos for a quoteWhy does restoration cost more than a leather repair kit from the internet?
A kit costs a few dozen złoty and masks the problem for a season. Restoration starts with degreasing and preparing the leather, then comes filling the damage, recreating the grain, re-colouring matched to the specific type of leather, and protection.
The colour is the cheapest part — what you pay for is a coating that won't come off after a few months.
Send photos for a quoteIs it worth restoring a seat, or is it better to buy a used one from a breaker's yard?
With popular models a seat from a breaker's yard really can work out cheaper — and then we'll tell you so plainly. Just remember that such a seat usually has a similar mileage and similar wear, and its colour rarely matches the rest of the interior perfectly, since that has faded differently over the years.

The leather in my car has gone hard and shiny. Can that be reversed?
Usually, yes — these are two separate treatments. Softening restores the suppleness of leather hardened by the sun, before it starts to crack at the folds. De-glossing removes the shine that builds up where the leather is touched: on the steering wheel, the seat bolster and the armrest.
Can a hole or a tear be repaired, or does the cover have to be replaced?
In most cases it can be repaired. We fill the damage with compound and then recreate the leather grain around it, so the repair doesn't remain a smooth patch.
The limit is where the leather has already become brittle over its whole surface — then we tell you honestly that a new cover will be cheaper and last longer.
I have light-coloured seats with denim dye transfer. Can it be removed?
Yes, it's one of the most common cases. Dye from clothing transfers to light leather and gets into the coating. After removing the stains we protect the surface with a protector, because otherwise it will come back within a few months.
Do you work on ventilated and heated seats?
Yes. We perforate to the factory pattern or a custom one, and we replace heating mats complete with their wiring. Removal and refitting of the trim is done by us.
Can the colour of car upholstery be changed?
Yes, car leather can be re-coloured. Light to dark is easier; dark to light can be done too, but it takes more coats and costs more.
A colour change covers whole parts, not sections — otherwise the edge shows.
Will a restored seat differ in colour from the rest of the interior?
It shouldn't. We match the colour to the actual leather in your car — after years of sun, beige is no longer factory beige. If we restore only the driver's seat, we match it to the passenger seat, not to a catalogue.
Do you repair convertible roofs?
Yes — we repair and restore soft tops, and we also replace the rear window, plastic or glass. We quote every roof from photos or after inspection, because the scope varies a great deal: from cleaning and impregnation to repairing the fabric.
Do you restore classic and modern classic cars?
Yes. With classics we try to keep the original leather, even if it takes more work — the original matters to the car's value in a way a new cover can't replace.
Furniture4
My sofa is aniline leather. Can it be restored too?
Yes, but differently from car leather. Aniline has no protective coating, so it absorbs colour instead of taking it on the surface. We use separate products for it that keep its softness and natural look — using the wrong products is a common cause of failed DIY restorations.
How can you tell if you have aniline? Put a drop of water in a hidden spot: if it soaks in within a few seconds and the leather darkens, it is aniline or semi-aniline.
My dog or cat has scratched the sofa. Can it be repaired?
Light scratches — yes, usually without a trace. Deep claw punctures we repair by filling the damage and recreating the leather grain.
To be honest: if the animal keeps scratching, no restoration will survive it. We'll advise you on how to protect the leather.
Can a sofa's colour be changed, say from black to cognac?
It can, with a caveat: going from a dark to a light colour takes more coats, and on badly worn leather a colour darker than the original works out better.
Do you collect sofas or come out to customers?
For larger jobs we come to the customer, and transport is arranged individually. Best to call or write and tell us what needs collecting and from where.
Yachts and unusual items4
Do you take handbags? What about leather clothing?
Handbags, yes. Worn corners, rubbed handles, scratches and faded colour are the same work as on a seat: cleaning, filling the damage, recreating the grain, re-colouring and protection.
We don't take clothing — no gloves, coats or jackets. There you have the cut, the lining and leather that has to stay soft and drape on the body; it is a separate craft and is done better by workshops that do only that.
How is yacht upholstery different from car upholstery?
The environment. Sun, salt and damp destroy ordinary furniture leather very quickly. For yacht and motorboat interiors we use materials resistant to exactly that: sun, salt and damp.
Do you restore motorcycle seats?
Yes, motorcycle and scooter seats. The scope — from refreshing the leather to a more serious repair — is agreed from photos.
Do you work on barber, dental and treatment chairs?
Yes — barber, dental and medical chairs. A chair like that is wiped with disinfectants several times a day, so at collection we also tell you what to clean it with so the protection doesn't wear off.
Durability and care2
How long will a restoration last?
With normal use and basic care — years, not months. What matters most is what happens after collection: sun, jeans and lack of cleaning. At collection we tell you what to clean the leather with and how often.
What should I clean leather with after restoration, and what should I never use?
Use: a mild leather cleaner and a soft brush or microfibre cloth — in a car roughly once a month, on furniture every 2–3 months. A protector once or twice a year.
Don't use: wet wipes, glass cleaner, anything containing alcohol or “all-purpose” dashboard sprays with silicone. Silicone leaves a shine that looks good for a week and then makes it impossible to protect the leather properly.
Practicalities2
Where do your customers come from?
The workshop is in Gdańsk, at Litewska 12. Jobs come from all over Pomerania and beyond — from Tczew, Malbork, Sztum, Kościerzyna, Elbląg, Braniewo, Słupsk, Bydgoszcz and Olsztyn. For larger jobs we arrange transport individually.
How long does it take?
It depends on the scope. A single seat is usually a few days; a full set or a yacht interior takes longer. We give you the date together with the quote, before work starts, and on larger jobs we send progress photos.
