Made-to-order leather matching

On older cars and unusual interiors the original cover can simply be unobtainable — the manufacturer no longer makes it, and what is available differs in grain or shade enough to be visible from the far end of the car park.

That is when we match the leather: we look for a hide with a similar embossing, thickness and behaviour when folded, and bring the colour in with dyeing. It is also the answer when someone deliberately wants to move away from the factory interior.

How we do it

• Assessment of the original: type of leather, grain, thickness, finish.
• Sourcing material that matches the grain and shade, or alternatives where the original cannot be reproduced.
• Samples to view in person, next to your car — colour on a screen and colour in daylight are two different things.
• Cutting, stitching and fitting.

What you need to know

Leather of a different thickness sits differently over the pressed lines and works differently on the folds. That is why we do not match "by colour from a photo" — you need both the material and the part in hand.

With partial restoration, where new leather meets old, we will be straight with you: a perfect match is rarely possible and it usually works out better to redo a larger area than a single section.
