Handbags and small leather goods

Worn corners, rubbed handles, scratches and faded colour. The same work as on a seat: filling the damage, recreating the grain, re-colouring and protection.

A handbag wears in places that are easy to point out: the corners, the base, the handles and the edge of the flap. Add scratches on the grain and colour that turns grey with dust on light leathers and fades in the sun on dark ones.

It is exactly the same work as on a seat, just on a smaller scale and with more precision: filling the damage, recreating the grain, re-colouring and protection.

How we do it

  • Cleaning suited to the type of leather — handbags are more often aniline or uncoated full-grain leather than anything else we see.
  • Filling worn corners and edges.
  • Recreating the grain and colour; re-colouring the whole surface if the shade has drifted unevenly.
  • Protection.

What we don't do

We don't take leather clothing: gloves, coats and jackets. It is a different leather, different colours and a different process, and with clothing there is also the cut and the lining — we would do it worse than workshops that specialise in nothing else.

We don't deal with hardware, zips or linings either. If a bag needs a new zip, that's a job for a leather goods maker — the leather and the colour are ours.

Leather Furniture — other services

Aniline and Semi-Aniline

Uncoated leathers need different chemistry and a different technique than pigmented car upholstery — otherwise the finish comes off along with the dirt.

Wear and hole repair

Wear and hole repair

Filling with repair compound and recreating the leather grain, so the repaired area doesn't stand out as a smooth patch.

Barber and dental chairs

Servicing and repairs for chairs in professional use — where wear is daily and downtime costs money.

Antiquing and antiqued leather

A finish with deliberately uneven colour — for period-style furniture and interiors where an even coating would look artificial.

Send photos and we'll call you back with a quote

The quickest way is this: a photo of the whole item, a close-up of the damage and a note on what the item or part is. On that basis we'll tell you whether it can be saved and what it will cost.
