Seat heating mats — replacement and fitting

Full heating mat replacement including wiring, with removal and refitting of the trim.

A seat heating mat usually fails for one of two reasons: the wire has chafed through where the cushion flexes, or the thermostat has given up. In both cases a spot repair rarely makes sense — the mat is bonded underneath the cover, and getting to it means a full strip-down anyway.

We replace the entire mat together with the wiring, and we also fit heating to seats that never had it from the factory.

How we do it

  • Seat removal and cover stripping — this is where most of the cost of the job sits.
  • Removal of the old mat and a check on the condition of the foam underneath.
  • Laying the new mat with its thermostat and connecting the wiring.
  • Reassembling the seat, refitting it and testing the heating on every setting.

Worth combining with restoration

Since the seat is already stripped down to the foam, this is the cheapest moment to restore the cover, replace the foam or fit ventilation. Done separately, each of those means the same strip-down all over again.

If you are thinking about heating and about refreshing the leather, mention both when asking for a quote — we will price it as one job.
